You have to pass the theory test before you can get an appointment for your practical test. There is a waiting list of three weeks and the fee is currently £31.00

The theory test is taken at Archer House (formerly called Rodney House), Castle Gate, Nottingham. The location is at the back of the Salutation pub on Maid Marian Way.

There is no connection between the theory test and the practical test. They are run by different organisation at different sites.

There are 50 multiple choice questions to answer. You must get 43 correct to pass. Then there are fourteen video clips to assess in the hazard perception test and you must score at least 47 out of 75.

If you have studied the Highway Code all the way through and practiced hazard perception clips on a computer, then the theory test should be easy for you.

You must arrive at Rodney House at least fifteen minutes before your appointment. Failure to do so will lose you the appointment.

You will have to show both parts of your new style driving licence or your old style licence with a passport.

Once you have passed your driving theory test, you have two years to pass your practical test.
